Urban Layer is a 3D printing studio based in India. We make things by hand – or rather, by machine and hand – and we take the same care with your personal data as we do with every piece we print.

What We Collect
When you place an order
To process and deliver your order, we collect:
- Your name
- Delivery address
- Email address
- Phone number
- Payment information (processed securely by our payment partner — we never store your card details)
- Your order history and any personalisation details you provide (e.g. name or number for custom jersey pieces)
When you browse the site
We and our service providers may collect:
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- IP address and general location (city-level)
- How you arrived at the site (search, Instagram, direct link)

When you contact us
If you reach out via email or Instagram, we retain the content of that conversation.

We do not use your data for automated profiling or AI-based decision-making.
Who We Share It With
We only share your data with third parties when necessary to run our business:
- Payment processor — your payment details go directly to our payment gateway (e.g. PayU or similar). They have their own privacy policies and security standards.
- Shipping partners — we share your name, address, and phone number with the courier delivering your order.
- Website infrastructure — our site runs on WordPress/WooCommerce. Standard server-level data applies.
- Analytics — we may use a basic analytics tool (e.g. Google Analytics) to understand site traffic. This uses anonymised, aggregated data.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies — small text files stored on your browser — for the following purposes:

Data Retention
We keep your order data — name, address, order contents, payment records — for 7 years to comply with Indian tax and accounting law.
If you create an account on the site, your account data is retained until you request deletion.
Email correspondence is retained for as long as it’s relevant to your order or inquiry, and deleted periodically thereafter.
Your Rights Under the DPDP Act 2023
As a data principal under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access — ask us what personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Grievance redressal — raise a complaint with us and receive a response within a reasonable time
- Nominate — designate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf in case of incapacity
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@urbanlayerstore.in with the subject line “Data Request“. We’ll respond within 30 days.
If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the Data Protection Board of India once it is established under the DPDP Act.

Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data — including HTTPS encryption across the site and secure payment processing through our payment partner.
No system is completely secure. If you have concerns about the security of your data, contact us immediately at contact@urbanlayerstore.in.
Children's Data
Our products and website are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have, we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the website.
